Qualify for the Unibet UK Poker Tour

on 2015-12-16, 05:57
Unibet have announced the launch of the Unibet UK Poker Tour starting in February 2016, and you can qualify for these events during the inaugural season via the Unibet poker software from just €1. Satellites will start TODAY, so why not get in early and book a package before the rush. You can sign up for a new Unibet account via our banner - we will get a small referral fee and this will help towards the costs of maintaining this site.

Unibet will be partnering with Caesars Entertainment, who will host the tour at some of the most luxurious casino venues in the UK. (These are the Alea and Rendezvous casino brands).

There will be a total of five tour stops in 2016, visiting Brighton, Nottingham, Glasgow and Manchester, with each stop featuring a £220 buy-in, £40,000 guaranteed Main Event, plus a full side event schedule. The winner of each Main Event will also win a custom trophy and a €2,000 Unibet Open package. A €2,000 Unibet Open package will also go the online qualifier who lasts longest in each event.

Online qualifiers are now available in the Unibet Poker lobby from as little as €1, with full packages worth €500, which will provide you with expenses for travelling to these events.

General info on the tour and online qualifiers can be found below.

General Info:

  1. Each Unibet UK Poker Tour Main Event will feature a 25,000 starting stack and 40 minute blinds, with a £200+£20 buy-in.

  3. Players have the option of playing Day 1a and Day 1b and taking their largest stack through to the Final Day.

I received an email alert about this, because I have a Unibet account, but I think it may be a premature announcement.  If the satellites really are running today, I can`t see them in the lobby.

IMPORTANT - BEWARE OF UNFAIR LIMITATIONS ON THESE QUALIFIERS

on 2015-12-28, 04:51
(TLDR - they don`t tell you until you find out the hard way that, if you play the qualifiers and win a ticket for the satellite, you must use it within 7 days, even though the satellites are not available every day.  There is no mention of this in the advertising quoted by Dave above.)

Chat dialogue with Unibet help person:

Krista:
Hi. Welcome to Unibet's Customer Support! My name is Krista. How may I help you today?

Michael: I had a €100 ticket for the UK Live Tour which I won on the 19th, but it seems to be vanished from my account

Krista:
I'm just going to check into this for you if you dont mind waiting. Is that ok?

Michael: Sure

Krista:
The ticket expired on the 26th

Michael: Why ?

Krista:
It was issued on the 19th and you had 7 days to use it

Krista: So it expired on the 26th

Michael: That seems very unfair. The €100 game in which one can use it isn`t on every day. Also, it`s been Xmas and one has other commitments

Krista:
With all due respect Michael it does have the expiry date on the tickets and I understand that it is the festive season but still it wouldnt be our fault if a customer is not able to play and we wouldnt know if the cust could play or not either

Michael: I didn`t know there was an expiry date until I checked the small print on the website. It`s not obvious from within the poker client.

Michael: I play on lots of poker sites and I know of no other with such a short time limit on a tournament ticket.

Krista:
Most of the tickets all have the same expiry date and it does not seem to be a problem with other players. Our bonus team would not re issue that cash ticket sorry to say

Michael: Understood. Not your fault, I`m sure, but I would hardly say this represents good customer service. Do you have a manager or supervisor I can write to ?

Krista:
Head of customer service.
Unibet.

Malta

Michael: Thank you

Have updated the dates for most of the remaining legs.

Mike - I never noticed your post over the christmas period - did they hide behind their Terms and Conditions or did you get satisfaction? Quite bizarre having a 7 day expiry, and completely unwarranted. I think at one point DTD made a rule that you had to use tokens within a month or something like that, which gives more room for manoeuvre. This way they are stealing cash off players - if you won £100 cash and didn't use it within a week would they have it off you?

That said I have had a similar problem with Grosvenor where I have won a seat in a Supersatellite, been auto-regged, then when I find I cant play it they wont move me into the next week's game. I suppose they don't want the admin cost of manually re-regging you, but there is no admin cost with tokens.

I never pursued it any further, to be honest.  Just stayed off the site.  I decided life is too short to waste my time arguing with muppets.

Unfortunately, it seems to be standard in the online poker industry that the support people have no authority to exercise any judgement or common sense.  Their only function seems to be to offer the dissatisfied customer an apology, in the hope that he will forgive and forget.

I had another example not long ago.  Without warning, just as I was about to register for a tournament, an online poker room blocked my account.  I got onto the support people, and the conversation went roughly like this:

Me:  Could you tell me why my account is blocked, please ?  I gather you want some kind of "verification" ?

Support Minion: Yes, sir, it`s a random check.  We need to verify that you are over 18.

Me:  Easily sorted.  Just refer to your records.  You will see I have played poker on this site since 2004.  If I were only 17 now, it follows that I must have been 5 when I began.  Do you know many 5 year olds who play tournament poker and who have a full, verified Neteller account ?

Support Minion :  I see what you mean, sir, but it`s not within my authority to make exceptions.  You must send us copies of one or more of the identity documents listed on this (linked) page.

.. so that`s another online poker room from which I am taking a (possibly permanent) holiday.
