I notice that there is another Team Event in January (at Luton).  Are we going to have a go ?

Re: APAT Team Event

on 2015-10-11, 18:52
I got the invitation email but wasn't sure if there would be much interest as some people were a bit s0-so about the experience in Manchester. I am also aware that two of the team we had in Manchester are already lined up to play for some minor pub team from West Brom Smile

If there is sufficient interest shown from members, I am happy to organise things again and have now submitted an application for a team - so please post on here is you fancy it. Not that we are successful I will expect players to pay me before the deadline date of 6th December, as we have had some last minute dropouts previously, which just causes hassle.

Full details are as follows:

It is again with much pleasure and excitement that we invite team entries for the APAT UK Team Championship, this year to be played at the Grosvenor G Casino, Luton over 2 days Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st January 2016.

Interested Poker Clubs, Groups, Forum and Communities need to register their interest in entering a team into this event, by the closing date Wednesday 21st October 2015, by sending a PM to myself via HERE or by email direct to tombrady@hotmail.co.uk or via Facebook Messenger HERE and providing the following details:

Team Name / Team Captain poc name, email address and mobile number - and Facebook contact
Links to team associated websites, Facebook/Twitter pages, Forum etc

Successful teams will be confirmed by Friday 23rd October 2015 at the latest.

Teams with 8 players each will compete for both a team and an individual prize pool in the Team Championship, which will be run as an MTT.

Entry is £400+£40 per team, with the total buyins paid out on a 50/50 basis to the top 3 teams and the top x (tbc) individual players from the MTT.

The top x (tbc) players in the MTT will score points for their team with 1st = x pts down to x = 1 pt.

Teams are to wear their own matching colour team shirts for both days of the event – if desired, EMBROIDERED POLO SHIRTS OR T-SHIRTS are available from APAT at a subsidised cost of £15 per shirt (reduced from £18) (or embroidered fleece/hoodies for £20 - embroidered baseball caps are also available for £7.50) and in addition to the APAT logo and UK Team Championship event wording embroidered onto the shirt breast, can be branded with the Team Name plus player name OR nickname (other wording or team logo embroidery is also possible but will cost more depending on requirements) (sizes from S to 3XL - 4XL and above will cost £3 more) - to order send a PM to myself via HERE or by email direct to tombrady@hotmail.co.uk or via Facebook Messenger HERE.

This event has seen huge demand in previous years, and we are expecting similar interest this year.  The event has also on occasion previously suffered from ‘team last minute dropouts’, and therefore, as we did previously, we will again maintain a reserve list and require all successful teams to pay, via Team Captain in one payment, the entry fee in advance by 12:00 noon on Sunday 6th December 2015.  Any team failing to meet the buy-in deadline will have their entry offered to teams on the reserve list.  Any team that pays the full buyin and has a last minute need to drop out will have their entry offered to the next team on the reserve list and whichever team takes up this option will have their buyin used to reimburse the team (via APAT) that had to drop out.

If you have any questions about the event, feel free to post on the event Discussion Thread HERE or contact me personally by PM via HERE or by email direct to tombrady@hotmail.co.uk or via Facebook Messenger HERE (preferred option).

APAT Player Of The Year Leaderboard Ranking Points WILL be awarded for this event.

A full weekend schedule of events will be published idc.

Congrats on winning the online tournament, Kev, and good luck at Luton.

As you stated, we have been successful in having a team accepted for the next team event in January 2016 - the following announcement was made on the APAT site yesterday:

Many thanks to all teams that put themselves forward for this season's event, and as usual it is extremely disappointing for us to have to limit the number of teams we can accommodate, and therefore have to restrict it to the following 30 teams who will compete in the APAT Coral UK Team Championship:

Auto Qualifiers:

LBPN
Degens
LPPL
Midlands Ballbusters
Scotsquad
Yorkshire Poker Club

Others:

APAT Fish With Chips
APAT Chocolate Lovers
Coral Poker
Live Pub Poker League
The Pokeriety
Degens B
LBPN Team B
Midlands Poker Forum
Geordie Poker
Joe Beevers Forum
BCPC
Hetton Social Poker
London Poker Meetup
Edgworth Cricket Club
Blue Blood
HITSQUAD
Kracked Kings
GNF
Blonde Poker
Team Gotham
Frome Poker Group
Bristol Meetup
Blackbelt Poker Alumni
FISO

Further details for buyin etc will be posted idc.

If it feels like its a long way off, rest assured it will fly past, so with Panfried and myself the only declared players so far, this is a shoutout to any forum members who fancy taking part in this event in Luton. So please post on here if you want to play this!

I can probably play. If we look like being short of players I'm sure I could get a few Cov regulars to play as it's Luton and easily commutable.

I also still have my shirt.

Any other previous team members (or new players) going to throw their hats in the ring? Jinx? Mike? Foggy?

Deadly called me last night about a hotel/pub he was thinking of using a couple of miles away from the venue but didnt have prices; I checked it on Tripadvisor and it didnt fare very well from the reviews - I checked the Premier Inn which last night was offering a room on saturday for £63 - as it is within walking distance I expect it to fill up quickly.

Can anyone remember the name of the hotel a few of you stayed at the first time we played at Luton? It was a little way out but seemed OK?

No rush but I will need to pay for the team by 6th Dec so will want players buyins (£55) in by 1st Dec.
Stars Username is Aces_Ascot.

Are you sure that was the hotel you were in? Thought it was in a completely different direction!

I have just booked the Premier Inn that Andy suggested above - opted to pre-pay and got it for £35, seemed a bargain.

Delighted to welcome The Jinx and Foggy back into the fold. We appear to have quickly filled up the team, but any other EXISTING members of the forum who may have an interest in playing (and who haven't just joined up to look for a team!!) pleas shout now. We always seem to end up calling on our reserves nearer the event! Fluence, as an APAT stalwart of many years standing, are you really just a "probably"? Very Happy

Regarding hotel rooms I usually get mine for free. I don't book one and I just get to use Andy's when he busts out in level 3 and goes home.

Unbelievable, a fellow team mate showing no sympathy or gratitude for a free room. Could I ask for confirmation please on my exit during level 3 as I thought I lasted long past that in Luton, and you had the room on Sunday evening????
When you eventually remember I think that was the stoke game and yes I didn't even have time for a drink, never the less I exited later than Ramsey lol!

Dave "running like a drain since 1066" you have 3 months to improve your game but more importantly your seat exit statement "well played sir nice hand" or more like "how the F*** do you call that" or "unbelievable you call half your stack with A9" the list is endless.

Hope you can play and don't expect my room because I'm gonna    Winner

Grrrrr.....I may not be able to make this weekend now. I'm supposed to be up in Stoke saving the planet (long story). If a replacement could be found I'd be obliged.

"Some minor pub team from West Brom!"........DAVID!!!!!!!

....And Kev O'D...."I am not defecting to the BCPC!"........I must have words!

BCPC Team event this year is likely to be on May 7th this year Dave. Would be great to have a team from the Forum playing this year. Will let you have details asap.

It would take more than a weekend just to save Stoke so good luck with that!!

Mike ramsey - you were our first reserve, are you up for stepping in to the breach?

Also, Mooch contacted me a few weeks ago to express an interest in playing if we had any drop outs.

I also have 55 of the english pound notes
I also have a hotel room in Luton that weekend
I did have a shirt, ( not sure if it still fits)
