Cheers.

Must say another repeat of a fantastic value game with plenty of play for those that love playing poker. We'll done to card room, dealers and floor for making this a great weekend. Thanks,

1 gripe for me about players too frequently calling for a clock. It seems that anyone takes more than a couple of minutes and a clock is called. I totally get it in a 15 minute turbo, but with a forty minute clock, does it really matter if every couple of hours someone takes 6 or 7 minutes. No it does not. Why? Just to look clever?

Yes, I second this.  I decided to go to the rival comp at Star City myself and, on reflection, I don`t feel it was a good decision.  The Titan`s structure is better, and no dodgy hidden rake (as mentioned in the other thread).  Shame the turnout was a bit low.

Easier to win and overlay! Sounds like win/win to me!

Devastated I couldn't play it.

Good short term but bad for the tournament and card room going forward.
Guarantee will reduce .........

Shame that even the clock structure  is very patient it doesnt transcend to the players still . I bust out the Titan comp as there is  a 1600 open at blinds 300/600 ,a call and I get 44 on button , this looks monstrous having been card dead all day and decide to shove my stack of around 16/17 k only to get rejammed out the small blind with KQ o . I should  rarely be in front once that reshove comes in yet was  gobsmacked to see I was racing. Current trend continues that once Im all in for the first time I go out straight away. As for the clock being called , I wouldn't call it on anyone , but do feel that  the  person with the decision needs to be  courteous to others. I happen to make a lot of my decisions very quickly as trust in my first instinct often but obviously understand this is not the same for every one.

Wow, he limped the min raise and called 100K+ shove? Bet you are glad he's on your table now.

I did wonder how the Titan v Monster battle would pan out. Probably different players than would be at DTD for the monthly £500, also the first weekend of the month, but these two tournaments are more or less fighting for the same players.

With Star City ensuring such a lot of seats will be filled, by taking seats out of the prize pool in their normal comps, they had to be favourites. I wouldn't like to see Coventry try to do the same, mainly because their numbers dont seem as strong for the bread and butter comps, but will they continue to go head to head? If Coventry moved to the second weekend of the month they would be up against Hill St's £50er with a £6000 Guarantee, and the last weekend of the month is Leicester's £50er with a £3000 Guarantee. Perhaps they just need to hold firm and slug it out, as everyone seems to have commented that the format is better at Coventry?

Personally I'd opt for the Titan over the Monster for several reasons. The monster giving away seats for the normal winners of comps is a HUGE advantage for them. Even though I'd prefer the Titan I'd definitely play the Monster if I virtually won a seat for nothing through a normal comp at Star City.

Maybe G Cov could take one seat per normal comp through the month out of the prizepool to make sure they generate some definite entries, even if the only did it on comps with 40+ runnners it would help.

They have given away free seats as an incentive in the £1/1 cash games before. Even adding "free seats" has to be better than a £2,400 overlay.

I believe the Monster had about 40 seat winners which is a terrific head start.

I agree with Mikes point, long term it's not good for the casino and I sincerely hope it's a long term success.

I have one idea that could help drum up interest, but I'll give it more thought before posting it.

Lets be clear, Star City arent "giving away" seats - unless they fail to make their guarantee in normal comps. Their guarantees include seats to the monster, so if the guarantee is met, it comes out of the prize pool paid for by players. If the guarantee for a weekday comp isn't met, the casino effectively fund the overlay in seats rather than hard cash. This has the effect of deferring their liability caused by the overlay, and presumably gives Colin a better chance to "balance his books" at the end of the month to keep the management/accountants happy.
