"RINGER" NEARLY WINS DTD CARIBBEAN POKER PARTY!!

on 2012-11-27, 22:53
Dusk Till Dawn’s fifth anniversary Caribbean Poker Party almost had a fairytale ending yesterday as club owner Rob Yong narrowly missed out on winning his own event, finishing runner-up to Waheed ‘Wadey’ Ashraf. However, despite Yong not taking the title, it’s perhaps fitting that Ashraf, a Dusk Till Dawn regular took down the event in St Kitts. He won the Dusk Till Dawn Monte Carlo £1,000 event back in December 2009 and won his seat to this event online.

Going to a tough final table, JP Kelly was chip leader with Yong tucked in behind, whilst Ashraf was in the middle of the pack. Double WSOP bracelet winner Kelly, would exit in fourth when his Qd-Td couldn’t get there against Ashraf’s pocket tens and when Ashraf knocked out Dan Christian in third the stage was set for the DTD owner against DTD regular for the title.

Heads-up would last just over 30 minutes, in the final hand Yong pushed with 8h-5h, Ashraf made the call with Kc-Ts and held up on a 6h-4s-3s-Js-Kd board to take the title and $85,600, whilst Yong collected $50,700 for finishing second.
