Numbers for comps

on 2012-09-26, 07:56
Just a quickie to show what kind of numbers we are getting now

If you click on the image it also gives the prize money for that comp.

Any chance of a tournament with a higher buy-in, Ricky ? Perhaps as a quarterly or bi-annual event.

I have been happy enough at Riverlights on the couple of occasions I have been there, but the games are a bit small for me. There is in the Midlands a fair group of mid-stakes players like me who readily travel to Stoke or Star City or Nottingham or anywhere in between for a tourney with a decent structure in the £100 to £150 range. Currently, you have nothing for us.

DTD are just down the road and regularly have this level buy in tourneys with big guarantees. It must be tough for other local casinos to compete with this.

Hi Panfried,

You saw what happened when I put a £100 FO with £1000 Added lol, wont be doing that again in a hurry, my boss still goes on about it Smile

My weekly comps seem cheap but they are in effect quite expensive after you factor the add-ons, it is possible to spend £98 on Wednesdays and Sundays for the £500 added comps if that's your bag?

Regarding DTD, yes you are right about the bigger comps, there is no way as a business we can compete with DTD's daftness on a weekend. In fact when I took the job in Derby I discounted even being in the same league as them. To me my memory of the place was a poker Mecca and is still a place to worship at the weekends, but during the week now (it may sound a bit bullish) but believe we have surpassed the standard that we originally set at DTD. It also helps that all the good dealers left and work with me now Smile

I don`t particularly like DTD, mate. I turn up there for some of their tournies, but only because they do have the right level of games, as far as I am concerned personally.

I should probably be more grateful, because I have made a fair few quid there, but it`s a bit like playing poker in New Street Station. And they are the only local cardroom who charge me to have a cup of tea while playing, which always seems a bit tight.

Might have worked if you had been able to give it a bit more time. I was busily telling the faces I know who play those buyins that there was a decent game just started up at Derby and then, the next time I look, it`s off and I never got a chance to drag any players along.

Granted it was a bit early Sad but after taking a hit like that, any suggestion of another one were laughed at tbh. I understand you have to give things a little time in the poker world but non poker players or managers are a little impatient lol
