MPF Satellites to Live Games

Post  Admin on 2012-05-11, 18:27

One of the things we hoped to organise when this forum got set up was online satellites for live games around the Midlands. So, as well as the new league we are starting, we have decided to experiment with some online satellites for live games to see how popular they are. Hopefully we will be able to generate a few seats for local events and give people the chance to play "bigger" events relatively cheaply.

Let us know what you think but we will be running these fortnightly for a few weeks to see how it goes, and these will run on a Thursday night, starting on Thursday 31st May. If they work out OK we will would repeat the format through July, then re-assess what competitions might be appropriate targets after that.

Grosvenor Poker will be guaranteeing one seat for each of these satellites.

Satellite One
Date: Thursday 31st May
Start Time: 8:00pm BST
Target Event: £100+£10 Deepstack at G Casino Walsall on 4th June (£10000 GTD)
Satellite Buyin: £10 + £1 Freezeout
Starting Chips: 3000
Levels: 12 mins

Satellite Two
Date: Thursday 14th June
Start Time: 8:00pm BST
Target Event: £100+£10 PokerPlayer Magazine UK Tour Event at G Casino Coventry
Satellite Buyin: £10 + £1 Freezeout
Starting Chips: 3000
Levels: 12 mins

Satellite Three
Date: Thursday 28th June
Start Time: 8:00pm BST
Target Event: £100+£20 Goliath Seat at G Casino Coventry
Satellite Buyin: 5FIVE5 - £5+50p, Max One Rebuy for 3000 chips, One Addon for 4500 chips.
Starting Chips: 1500
Levels: 12 mins

The first of these games is in the now in the lobby.

Go to Tournaments then scroll down to the Midlands Poker tab on the left, and you will find our league games and satellites listed.

A good question. Have recently been thinking about putting something together.

Given the state of the economy I am not sure what added value I could get for members from online sites. The turnout for the last one wasnt great, but if we went for another league, how many regulars (and lurkers!) would join in and what sort of format would you like to see?

I'll give it some thought while I await input from you all!!

Dave i am happy to support the forum in any shape or form and game format. I now play all live games in my Forum shirt which i wear with pride and hopefully steer more players to the forum.

Agree with Andy, i'd play regardless. Would be nice if we could get decent numbers.

Have only just discovered this forum and am hopefully some satellites could get up and running again?

Don't need to set anything special up. Just need to set up a private £10 game for a £100 target tournament and surely find at least 10 runners to generate a seat? Some good £100+ tournaments coming to the midlands but I often need motivation to go visit. If I have £100 in my hand I can rarely be bothered to travel for a buyin when it's so much easier to lose it on line. However, winning seats is a motivation and guarantees value as well as the fun atmosphere of live play.

Would love to see leagues etc run too but obviously this is a lot more difficult to get backing for as well as set up.

Funny you should bring this up.

One of the occasionally frustrating things about this forum is the number of people who access it every day (Google Analytics is my friend lol) for info about what's on, but who never bother to log in or contribute to the threads, so it is always difficult to know whether there is any demand for a bit of online pokering.

As it happends I am currently in discussions with an online site with a view to setting something up after a LONG gap since the last time, and hope shortly to be in a position to run a few things online with some added value for the members. Watch this space.
