How's it going?

on 2017-01-07, 07:24
Hi all,

Just thought I'd say hi. Been playing poker for a couple of years mainly in pub leagues. Used to play in Broadway or on Hill Street but I tend to play at Grosvenor or Alea sometimes but new to the area so looking for more tournaments to get into if anyone's got suggestions Smile

Cheers

That's a good point Mike lol thanks for the welcome but general east or west midlands. So anything in those areas Smile I've only really played in redtooth ones mainly and the odd few times at GP dtd, the student poker championship at rioch once and GPS. Other than that just the general tournaments in casinos.

The best run card room will be found at Birmingham grosvenor hill street:

Running of card room and tables
Valets
Guarantees
Standard of play
Variety of tournaments

I have at times played regularly at Coventry grosvenor ( Ricoh). Fairly friendly and passive games.

The only real place to play bigger, more competitive is at dusk till dawn although this can be a little hike up to Nottingham.

Play some of the softer games to ease you in by all means. It can, however, lead to picking up bad practices and to improve your play I believe that playing at higher stakes / vs better opposition is important

I agree with Mike`s remarks about Hill Street.  Always a solid place to play poker.

They have a £6k guaranteed comp on the second Saturday each month, £50 entry, which offers a decent structure and a reasonable prize for a modest outlay.  I turn up for that game myself when in town, as do several of the other MPF regulars.

Resorts World at the NEC has a very good Sunday afternoon comp and some other reasonable stuff as well. I used to play mainly at G Cov but RW is now my 1st choice.
